Operation Smile

I consider myself a cause-driven individual. My desires to make a difference are heart-felt and sincere. I've often reflected on the Steve Jobs quote I read on a printout hanging on my brother's wall years and years ago.

"Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do."

I flipped on the news early this morning when sleep was eluding me. I saw this commercial and spent the following 2 minutes in tears. Watch it. These people are making a difference and providing others the same opportunity. What a great cause.

  1. It is amazing what the doctors can do and how it changes the lives of these children. I used to work at Holy Cross Hospital (now Salt Lake Regional) and doctors from there would go all over the world performing these surgeries. Some of these children were totally shunned by society until after their surgeries and now they are accepted and have confidence in themselves. What an inspiring video.

  2. I still would love to go on a trip with them (I am a nurse). I have been to Africa twice with another group and it was an amazing experience.
